Last night, our team had the privilege of preparing dinner for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) here in Lexington, KY.
Our firm knows firsthand how much of a blessing the RMH can be. The son of a member of our firm underwent open heart surgery a few years ago in Cincinnati, OH. He was able to stay at the RMH located next door to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. His family even enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner during their stay.
We are glad to have the opportunity to give back to such a wonderful organization.
What is the Ronald McDonald House?
What is the Ronald McDonald House?They provide a “home away from home” so families can be with their children during a time of medical need. Today, there are 354 Ronald McDonald houses, 199 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and 49 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles.
Families are requested to donate $10 per night to help offset the cost, however, no family has ever been, or ever will be, turned away due to the inability to pay.
They are a non-profit organization who operates solely on donations and volunteers. There are many ways to get involved through volunteering:
- House Volunteer
- Van driver
- Preparing meals for the families
- Baking groups
- Service hours such as cleaning and chores
There are also many opportunities for donations:
- Daily, weekly, monthly, yearly gifts
- Give a Bear Hug
- Adopt a family or guest room
- Donate a vehicle
Along with the above, you can also donate items off their wish list, which includes:
- Antibacterial wipes
- Toilet bowl cleaners
- Deodorant
- Paper towels
- Sandwich and gallon size freezer bags
- And much more
