Frequently Asked Question

Can I file for OWCP Federal Workers’ Compensation and Federal Disability Retirement?

# Back to all FAQs

Yes, you can apply for Federal Disability Retirement and OWCP Workers’ Compensation at the same time.

But keep in mind that if you are approved for both, you will not be able to receive both benefits at the same time. You have the option to switch over to Federal Disability Retirement or put it on hold until you are no longer on Workers’ Compensation.

In many cases we would consider Federal Disability Retirement as a great backup option once your OWCP Workers’ Compensation is inevitably stopped.
