Buying back your military time will provide additional years of creditable service to your regular retirement once it is recalculated at age 62. However, you must have paid in-full prior to your separation from the federal government for those years to qualify. Make sure you’re aware of your current buy status and how much you owe when considering applying for Federal Disability Retirement.
