If you are still on the rolls, then your agency will play an important part in your application. During the initial stage of your application there are forms that your agency must fill out and once your application is together, it is then submitted to your agency for processing before it is sent to the OPM for an initial review. During this stage in the process, we often see delays due to agencies being unfamiliar with a Federal Disability Retirement application process and what is required for them to submit by the OPM.
However, if you have been separated then your application will bypass your agency and will go straight to the OPM for review. Understanding these processes and overcoming the obstacles that each scenario brings is critical to being successful in your claim.
